What is CIDA?
The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is the lead player in delivering Canada’s Official Development Cooperation program. It provides assistance to countries in Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Central and Eastern Europe, where its stated mission is to support sustainable development to reduce poverty and to help create a more secure, equitable and prosperous world. CIDA programming focuses on six priorities:

CIDA in Ethiopi
CIDA’s bilateral programs in Ethiopia is focused on food security and agriculture and governance/capacity building, with environment, gender equality and HIV/AIDS as crosscutting themes.
CIDA’s Pan Africa program works in the UNECA, the African
Union, and with other pan-African initiatives through the Canadian Embassy
in
CIDA - ECCO
The Ethiopia-Canada Cooperation Office (ECCO) has been established as a bilateral project, to provide support in developing and managing the Canadian cooperation program in Ethipia, in order to maximize developmental results and impact. The ECCO supports CIDA and executing agencies in planning and monitoring the cooperation program by carrying out specific activities relating to program planning and delivery, and administrative and logistical support. It also supports the country by providing expertise in response to government priorities.
The ECCO provides support services on a cost recovery
basis to the following clients:
CIDA
Bilateral Programs and Project personnel including:
· Ethiopian government departments involved in
CIDA projects;
· Personnel working on CIDA projects, including,
Canadian Executing Agencies (CEAs), Canadian firms, NGOs,
universities, other gov’t departments, Local Executing Agencies (LEAs),
International NGOs and Consultants.
Subject to the approval of the Project Manager, the ECCO may provide services to other clients, if resources permit and such services do not detract from the primary purpose of the ECCO.

Services to Program Planning and Project Delivery· Identify, contract and manage required expertise
· Provide office space and services to consultants (experts) in food security and agriculture, governance, environment, gender equality and HIV/AIDS and other areas as, required by CIDA’s program
· Provide support to the local programs in CIDA’s areas of focus
· Maintain a directory/database of organizations, institutions, companies, and consultants in the Horn of Africa
· Provide reviews, analysis and information on topics of interest to CIDA
Administrative
and Logistical Support Services
Administrative services will be provided to CIDA clientele on a non-profit ‘cost recovery’ basis. The actual list of services, including the present fees, is available upon request. Services offered include, but are not limited to the following:
